Essential skills to work safely in Residential Care
This workshop has been designed to provide the fundamental skills & knowledge for those working in Residential Aged Care. It is an introductory workshop which will suit attendees who are new to the industry or those that have some experience and just want an update or a refresher.

There is a theoretical component in the training which creates a framework, however, the primary focus of the workshop is practical and hands-on. Participation is critical and important to get the best outcomes from the training.
We will demonstrate 11 standardised On bed & Off bed safe operating procedures, as well as competent handling techniques for mechanical lifting devices and other adaptive equipment.

At the completion of the workshop there will be adequate time to clarify learnings covered during the training as well as any additional questions you may have.

    • Assist to stand off the bed using bed mechanics
    • Assist to stand from chair using Sacral Prompt
    • Transfer back to bed using leg lifter or Slide Sheets x 2
  • On Bed Tasks – Not Able to Assist
    • PAL roll (weight transference)
    • Move up the bed using Slide Sheets x 2
  • Off Bed Tasks – Not Able to assist
    • Transfer from chair to chair using Standing Machine
    • Transfer from bed to chair using Lifting/Ceiling Machine
    • Transfer off the floor using Lifting/Ceiling Machine
